My name is Sagen Jackson. As a young child I dreamt of being a Pediatrician.
I've always wanted to help women and children improve their health.
What I knew for sure was that I wanted to help the women in my family get HealthiHER. It was tough watching them struggle with chronic disease. So, I thought becoming a doctor would be the best way to help them.
Wrong!
While I did end up graduating with my Bachelors of Science in Health Education and Master of Public Health, I learned along the way I didn’t have to be a doctor to help women get HealthiHER.
I could work in the Public Health field and help make an impact on a much larger scale. And I have been blessed thus far to do this.
During my Masters Program I focused on Behavioral and Community Health.
Throughout my studies I have worked with clinicians to develop programs which served low-income mothers and babies. I’ve worked closely with physicians working in Neonatalogy, Obstetrics and Gynecology and Primary Care. I have also served on my local Breastfeeding Coalition Board.
I’ve been blessed to help close to 1 million people either through programs I’ve developed, curriculum I’ve created or volunteer work.
But working with women to effect true change in their lives is the ultimate fulfilment.
As a woman who has worked through her own health issues, I’ll tell you right now the feeling of not having brain fog, of not huffing and puffing from being overweight and working out and feeling good afterwards… THAT feeling is unmatched!
THAT feeling is unmatched!
But I didn’t just magically get there.
It took a lot of trial and error.
I mean, can you believe a Texas woman could give up BBQ and Burgers?!
Come on!!
They are literally available for EVERY holiday and on EVERY street corner.
But I did it!
