Gather Ingredients for Stovetop Oatmeal

Did you know chocolate covered strawberries originated in Chicago? Apparently, a lady named Lorraine Lorusso had a creative idea while working at a small gourmet store and decided to dip strawberries in chocolate. Of course, you know where this story is headed. This quickly became a trend and here we are today with chocolate covered strawberries. Thank you, Lorraine for your greatness.

Let’s add to her creative genius with this Daily Harvest inspired recipe. Here’s what else you’ll need to make this a success:

  • Daily Harvest Coffee + Almond Latte
  • Oats
  • Plant Milk
  • Strawberries (added to iced vinegar-water bath for at least twenty minutes)
  • Coconut Oil
  • Cocoa Powder
  • Maple Syrup

Since Daily Harvest is made to be ready in minutes we won’t make this a long, time-consuming recipe. The hardest part will be dipping the strawberries in chocolate.

Make the Oatmeal Porridge

To make this easy oatmeal porridge recipe you’ll want to first prepare the oatmeal according to the package directions. But be sure to use plant milk instead of water for this. This ensures its creaminess pairs will with the chocolate covered strawberries.

Prepare your oats by adding plant milk to saucepan. Bring this to a boil, then add oats, half of Daily Harvest coffee + almond latte pod and maple syrup. Allow this mixture to simmer for more creaminess.

Prepare the Chocolate Covered Strawberries

While the oats are simmering begin to prepare your chocolate. You will do this by adding warm melted coconut oil , cocoa powder and the half of the Daily Harvest Coffee + Almond Latte pod. It’s important to note the coconut oil should be warm in order for the other ingredients to easily combine to create a rich and creamy sauce. Whisk together until smooth.

Make sure your strawberries have been throughout dried. Then set aside.

Note: Before dipping strawberries be sure to have a piece of parchment paper on hand so you can lay your chocolate dipper strawberries on.

Next grab strawberry by the stem (or leaves) and sip into chocolate. Then lay strawberry on parchment paper. The chocolate should begin to harden immediately. That means the coconut oil is doing its job.

Assemble the Oats Bowl

To prepare your oats bowl simply add your stovetop oatmeal to a bowl. Top with crushed peanuts, cacao powder and chocolate covered strawberries. Enjoy warm.

That said, a general rule of thumb when cooking is to stir occasionally and cook until most of the liquid is absorbed.
