This chili garlic tofu is perfect for the nights when you need flavor but you’re running low on time – quick, easy and low calorie too!

Ingredients

  • 1 block extra firm tofu

  • 1/4 cup tapioca flour

  • 1 Tbsp sesame oil

  • 2 Tbsp garlic, minced

  • 3 Tbsp chili garlic sauce

  • 3 Tbsp soy sauce

  • Garnish: chopped green onions, garlic, red peppers

Preparation

  • Press the tofu in a tofu press to get rid of any excess water. Then slice your tofu, as pictured above.
  • Toss sliced tofu in tapioca flour (or cornstarch) until evenly coated and then set aside.
  • Heat your skillet over medium heat. Add 1 Tbsp sesame oil and saute garlic until fragrant – about 1 minute. Now whisk in your chili garlic sauce and soy sauce and allow your sauce to simmer for about 5 minutes. Be careful not to burn.
  • Once sauce has reduced a bit and become thicker and tofu slices. Saute slices on both sides for about 5 – 8 minutes per side. Remove from heat, garnish and enjoy!
  • You may enjoy tofu slices as is or over noodles or rice.
